Winter is a hand-built ceramic sculpture exploring the tension between growth and dormancy.
Layered forms rise from the base, opening and curling in on themselves like frozen botanical structures. Deep, dark cavities sit against pale, translucent surfaces, while fine tendrils and textured edges create a sense of movement within an otherwise quiet form. Crackled areas and earthy bronze and brown tones add another layer of depth, giving the piece an aged, weathered quality.
Winter was the first piece in a series exploring the changing character of the seasons. It reflects the stillness of winter — a landscape that appears dormant on the surface, while something is quietly gathering beneath it.
